Umzimkhulu
General Information
Umzimkhulu , surrounded by farms and rolling hills and situated on the foothills of the Drakensberg, it is a small town at the entrance to what was previously an enclave of the Eastern Cape but is now part of the Kwazulu Natal. Two of the highest peaks of the Drakensberg is found here, and is seen from miles away, Hutchinsoh’s Peaks, the south and north peak, 3252m and 3258m respectively.
Many pollution free rivers cascade down the sides of the berg then along the Umkomaas, Umzimkulu Polele, Umzimvubu Rivers & further north to the Tugela. There are several internationally important Bushman paintings sites which vary in age from 4000 years old to only 150 years old. Umzimkhulu is a wonderful mixture of culture, English, Afrikaans and Zulu.
